The poetry of James Reynolds Withers

The films on this page show readings of James Reynolds Withers' poetry by the project's creative team and residents of his birthplace, Weston Colville, and Fordham, where he lived for most of his life. Withers had a strong bond with this part of Cambridgeshire and remained there throughout his life despite being offered finer places to live elsewhere by his patrons. We believe, hearing his poetry in various accents and voices reveals different qualities in his work. Many of these poems feature in the films about Withers' life that were created by this project (click Back to view).
